Senior Accountant

Position Summary:
Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Accountant supports the department in directing budget and cost controls, financial analysis, accounting procedures, managing financial statement preparation, assisting in organizing and planning auditing schedules and developing policy and procedures manuals for the department.
Of vital importance to this role is the ability to understand business trends and transactions. This knowledge will help to ensure effective controls, drive process, reporting and analytical improvements for more efficient and effective operational performance.
Accountabilities:
- Preparing and consolidating financial statements
- Reviewing and analyzing plant cost structure, and reporting variances
- Establishing and maintaining internal controls
- Managing all aspects of the general ledger
- Providing monthly, quarterly and year-end analyses
- Coordinating or assisting with the budget process
- Serving as a liaison to external auditors
- Supervising accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accounting departments
Candidate Qualifications:
- Preference for CMA certification (or near completion) or equivalent education
- Minimum 2 years full-cycle computerized accounting over all accounting tasks
- Manufacturing experience would be considered a definite asset
- Strategic thinking and problem solving skills
- Strong user of Excel and Microsoft Windows products
- Experience with an ERP system an asset
- Experience in Navision and Simplicity a definite asset
- Self-starting, inquisitive, takes initiative.
